Pavesan is the name, formulations are my game! My research is focused on emulsion formulations and process optimization. Reducing the carbon footprint of the pharmaceutical industry requires new manufacturing and analytical methods to meet these needs
My Story
Coming from a family of scientists, I developed my interest in science and nutrition early. As a dedicated sportsman, I began playing golf at four and show jumping at six. Although having an interest in many sports, including tennis, cricket and rugby, it was golf that I excelled at, ranking third in golf at my alumni high school Maritzburg College. A dedicated exercise regimen and disciplined diet steered me to take up sports pharmacy to understand nutrition and supplementation.

I obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Rhodes University. I am currently completing my Master's degree in pharmaceutical sciences. I am excited about technological change and the possibility of rapid social improvement. Using technology to make scientific research more cost-effective, I hope to expand South Africa beyond being an exporter of raw materials and into a manufacturing and innovative country.

My studies focused on lipid nanocapsule manufacturing using plant-based excipients and a low-energy manufacturing method. At Rhodes University I was fortunate enough to have used many industry-standard instruments and methods, including Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, differential scanning calorimetry, differential light scanning analysis, powder x-ray diffractometry, laboratory freeze drying, high-performance liquid chromatography, thermogravimetric analysis instrument, scanning electron microscopy and a USP dissolution apparatus 1 and 2.

I have always felt that a person's work is more than a means to earn an income. Work is the activity that we spend most of our lives doing. I have always wanted to be a part of creating a workplace culture with excitement around innovation and an appreciation of the journey involved.
